Valerian Bedtime Tea

INGREDIENTS:

1 teaspoon dried valerian root

1 teaspoon chamomile flowers

1 teaspoon lemon balm

2 cups hot water ~ Honey to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

Place herbs into a tea infuser or teapot. Pour hot water over herbs. Cover and steep for 10–15 minutes.

Strain and sweeten with honey if desired. Enjoy 30–60 minutes before bedtime.

Valerian Herbal Honey

INGREDIENTS:

1 tablespoon dried valerian root

1 cup raw honey

Small glass jar

INSTRUCTIONS:

Place valerian root into a clean jar. Pour honey over the herb. Stir gently to remove air bubbles. Seal and let infuse for 1–2 weeks. Strain if desired.

Calming Valerian Bath Soak

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup Epsom salt

2 tablespoons dried valerian root

2 tablespoons lavender

1 tablespoon chamomile

INSTRUCTIONS:

Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Store in an airtight container.

Add 1/2 cup to warm bath water. Soak for 20 minutes.

Valerian Moon Milk

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup milk or oat milk

1/2 tsp. dried valerian root

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. honey

Tiny pinch nutmeg

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS:

Heat milk gently in a saucepan. Add valerian root and cinnamon. Simmer very lightly for 5 minutes.

Strain into a mug. Stir in honey, nutmeg, and vanilla. Serve warm before bedtime.

Valerian Chamomile Sleep Cookies

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup flour ~ 1/2 cup oats

1/4 teaspoon powdered valerian root

1 teaspoon dried chamomile

1/4 cup honey ~ 1/3 cup butter

1 egg ~ 1 teaspoon vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Mix dry ingredients.

Stir in butter, egg, honey, and vanilla. Scoop onto baking sheet. Bake 10–12 minutes. Cool before serving.

Use only a small amount of valerian in foods because of its strong flavor.

Valerian Citrus Sleep Syrup

INGREDIENTS:

2 tablespoons dried valerian root

2 cups water ~ Peel of 1 orange

1 cinnamon stick ~ 3/4 cup honey

INSTRUCTIONS:

Simmer valerian, orange peel, and cinnamon in water for 20 minutes. Strain well. Return liquid to pan and stir in honey.  Warm gently until combined. Cool and refrigerate.

Use: Add 1 tablespoon to warm tea. ~ Stir into sparkling water. ~ Mix into warm milk.

Valerian Relaxation Foot Soak

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup Epsom salt

1 tbsp. dried valerian root

1 tbsp. lavender

1 teaspoon peppermint

INSTRUCTIONS:

Mix all ingredients together.

Add to a basin of warm water.

Soak feet for 15–20 minutes.

Dry feet and relax afterward.
